"I leave you my portrait so that you will have my presence all the days and nights that I am away from you." Frida Kahlo
From Photo, To Paint, To Mosaic
Pip Edwards is an experienced mosaic artist of more than 20years.
Creating a pet portrait in ceramic tiles is an exacting process using many colours and tones of tiles to create the form and likeness of the subject. Details such as eyelashes, freckles, glints of light in the eyes etc is not overlooked.
The process has 3 steps, starting with a good photographic image provided by the client, which is then translated into a painting, which then becomes the template for the mosaic. Names of pets can be incorporated in the mosaic. Pip is masterful at not only capturing the subjects likeness but also its personality. The process takes around 2 weeks.
The mosaic is made ready to hang for inside or outside.
